Newbury is located in Merrimack County, New Hampshire.  It includes the village of Blodgett’s Landing and is home to the southern part of Lake Sunapee and Mount Sunapee State Park Beach.  Newbury is situated 41 miles from Manchester and 95 miles from Boston.

Newbury is a popular summer vacation destination.  The Lake Sunapee area offers boating, biking, swimming, snowmobiling and skiing.  Newbury is also home to Mount Sunapee Resort, a ski and winter sports resort.  Newbury’s Mount Sunapee offers view of Vermont, the fabled Franconia Range and Mount Washington in the Presidential Range. 

Newbury is home to the Fells Historic Site at the John Hay National Wildlife Refuge.  This includes 876 protected acres of forest country estate.  The site includes gardens, wildlife and hiking trails.  

According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Newbury was home to 1,702 residents.  This included 691 households and 507 families.  The average family size was 2.84 and the average household size was 2.46.  Newbury is comprised of 35.8 square miles of land and2.3 square miles of water.
